As a woman, wife, mother and independent business owner I applaud you and your willingness to stand up for your friend, (which I think you’d have done whether or not she was female).

I applaud you also for your graciousness to the man who insulted your friend. I sincerely hope that he learned something.

In addition, in other places where you heard or saw women being denigrated, you made a continued effort to help or support them in some way.

At the risk of sounding chauvinistic myself, you sir, embody what it used to mean to be a real man. A real man respects others. You showed respect to your friend, toward the man who maligned her, and to others you saw promoting bad behavior. Anyone should be happy to have a friend like you.
