It is rare for our society — and therefore our cinema — to address the uncomfortable and intractable truth of poverty. “Queen of Katwe” breathes in it. It is a non-voyeuristic invitation to experience how the other ninety percent of our world lives. Sometimes too much truth is hard to sell.
