A puzzle,

what cliche does this picture tell?

I enjoy these picture puzzles.

Cliches annoy me if used in place of orgrinal thought. There is something dishonest about falling back on tired old sayings.

Now slogans are different. In AA and recovery, we have tons. They are like buzz words. They remind us, with a word or two, of a larger concept.

“Sober up a drunken horse thief and you get a sober horse theif.”

Meaning, that all a drunkard’s character defects do not just go away. I like to say, “I was a drunken asshole, now I don’t I drink.”

I mentioned that a new guy at work was a rough guy. My wife said, “He’s a diamond in the rough.” The word, rough, set off a cliche in her head and she had to say it aloud. Weather it made sense mattered not.

She has a whole game on her tablet with picture puzzles. Take two images and guess the cliche. I have played it, it is fun.

Pictured here is a pun. A play on words. I really love sight gags and puns. Remember when the movie airplane came out? Nothing but sight gags, puns and silliness. Kid stuff, corny, and a great escape from the seriousness of our day to day world.

So if my little offering seems silly, it was meant to be. I can be serious tomorrow.
