Mike, not sure why you had fallen off my Followed list, but I just re-added you. I really like your fresh sense of perspective. It is different — dare I say, unusual — from what I usually see and I just like it.

I think there can be “community” online. But I think it works best when centered around “safe,” non-controversial subjects. Otherwise people get too personally and emotionally connected, and sometimes too personally and emotionally hurt in the process.

I believe true relationships require the physical. I’m not talking sex. I’m talking being with and talking with the other person face-to-face, probably quite often. Like you said, to get to know them. And getting to know someone is a complex and personal thing.

Maybe some people react to my belief negatively, but I don’t know why. This is what I’ve experienced, the reality before me that I’ve observed and been part of. I know for a fact great relationships can bloom on the internet, but they have to go beyond that to become true.
