U of T’s Campus Ambassador: Ore Otegbade

At Textbooks for Change, our Campus Ambassador Program has been a fun way to connect with the campus community while providing awesome experiences for motivated students.

Name: Ore Otegbade

Age: 18

Program: 2nd year Management with an education minor.

School: University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus

Favourite part of U of T: There is an inevitable pride that comes with attending a university that is amongst the top twenty in the world. I especially love the diversity and innumerable opportunities available to students.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. What are you up to now? What do you like to do outside of school/work? Some goals?

I am an introvert, turned partial extrovert to conform to societal expectations (lol). I have a vast array of interests ranging from education to consulting to law to event management. However, like many, I am still trying to find my niche.

Why and how did you become involved with Textbooks for Change?

I found out about T4C on the U of T job board. I was just casually looking through, with no intention of getting a job. T4C was too perfect to pass up though- It combined social impact with education which are passions of mine, so I applied!

If you were able to meet a younger student studying a similar program in Kenya, what advice would you give to them?

Don’t limit yourself. The brain is a phenomenal organ with limitless capabilities. Seek to constantly develop yourself and utilize some of the many resources available online.

What is the best travelling experience you’ve had?

My coolest travel experience was to Dubai in the UAE. That place is amazing! It boggles the mind, how the leaders have successfully transformed a desert into a wonder with several attractions like the largest indoor aquarium.
