How to install the official Tezos wallet (Tezzer)

The release of the official Tezos wallet, Tezzer, was no surprise to the Tezos community. This blog post will provide you with a quick overview on how to use the wallet.

Step 1 — Downloading the wallet

The Tezzer wallet is only available for Windows devices at this moment.
You can download the Tezzer wallet from Github.

Step 2 — Launching the wallet

There are no libraries or dependencies necessary for running Tezzer.
Please make sure you do have port 3444 open to ensure proper synchronization of the wallet. This is however, not mandatory and transactions can be propagated to the network without synchronization.

We recommend you to run Tezzer in an offline environment if you don’t need to send any transactions.

Press ‘Create Tezzer Vault’ to create your Tezos (XTZ) wallet.
Alternatively, press ‘Restore Tezzer Vault’ to login to your wallet.

Step 3 — Backup your Tezzer (Tezos) wallet seed

You can do so by writing it down on a piece of paper and storing it safely.
Taking photos is not recommended. Storing it online neither.

Step 4 — Using your wallet

You can now use your wallet and deposit and withdraw funds.
Alternatively, export your raw private key to a safe location.

Step 5 — Configuring a password

By default, you will have to log in by restoring your mnemonic seed.
This makes the Tezzer a great candidate for safely transacting your Tezos.
1- Make sure your device is offline and not connected to the internet
2- Enter your mnemonic seed
3- Connect to the internet if you want to send Tezos (XTZ)

Your Tezzer seed will be encrypted after entering it into the wallet and will wait for online synchronization. Your mnemonic seed is never saved by default.

Alternatively, you can use an insecure password to secure your mnemonic seed. The ‘PASSWORD’ button will be activated once your balance has a higher balance than 0.000 XTZ.
