5 REASONS WHY JESUS IS NO LONGER AT THE CENTER OF CHRISTIANITY

Phil, I really appreciated this article. Thank you for sharing. I agree that there is a problem of Christ being displaced by doctrine and “head knowledge” in the church. I’ve seen this first hand.

I would, however, like to respectfully counter on the matter of sin. I do agree that it can’t be used as the “carrot on the stick” for believers and their salvation. But there’s a balance to be considered isn’t there? Just as you mentioned the issue of a sermon that focuses on problems more than answers, the opposite has its downfall as well. I think this is especially critical when presenting the gospel to non-believers. A parachute is meaningless until someone is told they’re going to be tossed out of a plane.

Sin and our transgression of the law should point us to Christ. They go hand in hand. Based on what you’ve written, I don’t imagine you would disagree. And obviously I think you’re right to point out the neglect and/or abuse of these truths. This was just one aspect that stuck out to me.

Thanks again.
