My Favorite Video Games of 2015

My Top 3 Games of the Year 2015 are
1) Rocket League
2) Life is Strange
3) The Witcher III
Rocket League is just flat out fun. I haven’t had this much pure fun with a video game in so long. I have played a lot of online multiplayer with friends on regular basis (which is something I haven’t done since Gears of War). I love the bite sized match length, making it easy to play “just one match” before heading out to dinner or something but the I find the gameplay so satisfying that it is addictive and I can also easily play this game for hours in one sitting. I love Rocket League.
Life is Strange is a game I played with Sasha, so that added to my enjoyment of it. It was fun sitting down together and trying to get Max through her story. The choices felt heavy and real. The characters were likable. The music was great. I tend to like episodic adventure games and this was the best one this year (that I played).
The Witcher III’s world is so rich and enthralling. The graphics are beautiful. The characters you encounter are interesting. Boobs. This game offers up so much. I have to admit that I haven’t beat Witcher III yet and to be honest, I don’t know if I ever will. But it is a game that I continually have the urge to pop in and revisit that world (which is not the norm for me. Usually if I haven’t beat a game that I started that long ago, I would have just moved on. So whatever it is that makes me want to keep going back is something special.)
My biggest disappointments of 2015 were definitely Arkham Knight and Battlefront. I thought I would love Arkham Knight. I loved the other two Rocksteady Arkham games. If you would have asked me at the beginning of the year, I would have put money on this game being on my “Best of 2015” list for sure. So part of the disappointment is my fault. But the overuse of tank missions and the fact that the “twist” wasn’t all I had hoped it would be, really let me down. I feel like Arkham Knight’s twist is very similar to Star Trek Into Darkness’. Not that much of one at all. And Battlefront just never grabbed me like I wanted it to. Plain and simple. It’s a beautiful game but… *shrug*
Overall, I had a lot of fun with video games in 2015. I got a WiiU for Christmas. I am currently playing Hyrule Warriors on it (which I am having a lot of fun with). I also got FFX/X-2 for PS4 and excited to give that a go soon too.
