Smart-phones will die AND smart-phones will not die. The smart-phone is a portable screen. We will continue to look at screens in the future. Now that we have created this thing that we call a smart-phone I really cannot see any reason why we would un-create it. What is a smart-phone really — just interactive paper, and look how paper has persisted. What I think will change is how the content and services that are accessed through a smart-phone are obtained. Today some of that content and some of those services are obtained from local sources, and some from remote sources. In the future I believe that ALL that content and ALL those services will come from remote sources. The smart-phone will never die, it will just work differently in the future.
