Time management can be a tough spot for anyone, we always look back at the day and see the couple hours that we could have used better. It’s human nature to need a break. But there are ways to manage your time better and make even your longest breaks productive. Here are a few tips from my recent experiences that might help you use your time more effectively.

Use a schedule

Whether you are a techie or you like an old fashioned pen and paper approach, there are plenty of ways to write out your daily, monthly or yearly schedule. Don’t feel overwhelmed because you think you need to download the latest greatest software. You don’t need it. Please don’t get lost in the things that are unimportant. I use pen and paper for daily goals every once and awhile as I believe it helps me refocus my day. Don’t get me wrong, I am a frequent user of Google Calendar, but there are other ways to do it.

Set goals

Set daily goals or targets that you or your team need to hit. Don’t get lost in the little stuff, get lost in what matters that day. The small stuff can be done by other people or in other ways. Focus on the things that make you the most money. You will feel better about your day if you do.

Farm things out

Are you a small business owner and you need more coffee cups? Well in this day and age there are plenty of individuals who would love to take that job from you in exchange for a couple of bucks (Gotta love the side hustle). You might be thinking; it’s such an easy job why can’t I just do it? My answer is always this, would you rather be buying coffee cups or following up with a lead? I think that lead has the potential to make you quite a bit more money than you are losing paying someone like Curro Services to go pick those up for you.

Follow through

Commit each morning to doing what you set out to do. While you are eating your oatmeal and drinking your coffee planning your hustle, write out those goals and COMMIT to following through. Guess what? You will always find some time you wasted, the goal is to get better at it, you’ll never be perfect but what are you doing if you’re not chasing perfection?

What time management skills do you all use to use your time better? I look forward to seeing your input.
