Fire Away

Ambitious goals and unambitious ones share the same trait: they get you nowhere. The only difference is that the former deceives you into thinking you’ve set your sight on something grand. And grand you must be if you are to live life at all, right? You snob. Those lofty intentions and the effort required to give them shape stopped you dead in your tracks a long time ago. But you couldn’t stand the thought of being ridiculed for intending too low so you kept aiming above your station and have been basking in a phony sense of entitlement ever since. All this time, you’ve been aiming without firing a single shot. All this time, you’ve been denying yourself the satisfaction that invariably accompanies an intent’s release from your mind’s cell into the streets of the material. So think about this. But not too long. After all, you’re better off emptying the chamber and missing your target than to forever wonder what you could have hit.
