Forgive me for not responding sooner. Hitchens, I agree, is sorely missed. I had the privilege of getting to know him somewhat while he was still on this earth. But, that gives me little advantage in discerning what he might think now. He was just too original. In other words, your guess is as good as mine.
Ross, thanks for your comments. I do agree that Hitchens’ objections to Trump would be driven by substance rather than an impulse to serve a particular political agenda. In this, he would not be dissimilar from my own criticisms of Trump and that of other conservatives, including many of Hitchens’ close friends, like David Frum.
