I’d wager that if Democrats controlled Congress now, as Republicans did during Obama’s Presidency, impeachment proceedings would have been well underway too — whether or not the evidence supports it. The constitutional definition of an impeachable offense is sufficiently broad that it can mean essentially whatever Congress says it does. It is an inherently a political process that leaves indelible scars on the body politic. Before we subject the country to that sort of pain, we should be sure, really sure, that we’re doing the right thing. Thanks for commenting and reading the article. I’m grateful for the discussion.
