QUESTION TIME: Jones vs. Griffin

What differentiates you from Walter B Jones?

I am a consistent constitutional conservative and supporter of limited federal government and the free market. Rep. Jones, in my view, is inconsistent in his application of conservative principle and too willing to sacrifice those principles for populist political gain.

On foreign policy, I believe that a stronger America is a safer America. Regardless of whether we should have gone into Iraq in the first place, President Obama’s premature withdrawal of American troops in 2011, which Rep. Jones supported, was absolutely the wrong decision. I also strongly disagree with Rep. Jones' support for Obama’s reckless Iran negotiations.

Finally, I do not believe that it is just enough to vote no on everything and decry that Washington is broken, as Rep. Jones seems to do. When you vote no on everything, you take responsibility for nothing. We elect people to Congress to do something positive for the district and the country. After 20 years in Washington, Jones has proven ineffective on both counts. Given the massive problems our nation faces, it’s time we sent the career politicians packing and elected a new generation that will bring renewed energy and fresh ideas to put our country back on the right track. I’m running for Congress because I am not content to sit and watch as the greatest nation the world has ever known rots from neglect.
