I took a long time to understand this one: the cylinder is a “disk pack” from the 60s.

Imagine a device the size of a washing machine where you put the cylinder in. The “pack” worked like a removable hard drive, only with the size of a big saucepan (not surprisingly, here in Brazil, some people called it “disco panela” or “saucepan disk”).
