Why you should not just pick a color for your brand identity.

Simply choosing a color for your brand identity can give a false impression.


On the Internet there are hundreds of articles about the meaning of colors. Enough choices. For example, the color red stands for power and purple for royalty.

What happens if you still have to choose a color for your brand identity. You are going to pick a color you like. Or you can’t make a choice and select based on the color meaning articles. I bet you are going to pick a color how you see yourself and how you want that the outside world to see you, We are powerful, fun, royal, loyal etc. But let’s be honest who doesn’t want to be seen as the best.

On paper and much better in your head you see everything clear what you want to do with your business. What you are going to do for your target market. Especially in the early stages and when the outside world know little to nothing about your brand. Your name and even better a company description can give a feeling that turns in an image, a color which you do NOT see.

Maybe you chose red, but most see blue. Then there is miscommunication and wrong impression.
And let’s face it you want a good impression. Why do you think why companies give a logo contest? Because you do not see what others think what you mean.

And make no mistake, even some prominent companies still have a color miscommunication.
