3 Tools for when you’re feeling Overwhelmed
Somedays, it can feel hard to be thankful for what you have. Life is overwhelming and we all need help at times! Luckily, there are so many resources and tools available to help you through difficult times. So here is a list of 3 items that we use to help ourselves on the days the world feels too heavy:
- 101 Essays that will Change the way You Think (Brianna Wiest)
This book explores ideas such as: “pursuing purpose over passion, embracing negative thinking, seeing the wisdom in daily routine, and becoming aware of the cognitive biases that are creating the way you see your life.” And it truly did create a graduation mindset shift, for me. It showed me how to slow down and reflect on who I am and who I want to be. If you are feeling lost or unmotivated we recommend this book!
2. Unwind Your Mind (by Headspace App)
As someone who has trouble calming the noise in their head when trying to sleep, this interactive Netflix “docuseries” has been a lifesaver! You can choose the goal of each session, they offer help for anxiety, meditation, deep sleep, and much more. I put on a sleep story when going to bed and it helps me doze right off. This can also be a great alternative to talk therapy!
3. Thankr App
Expressing gratitude is associated with several physical and mental benefits including sleep, mood and immunity, according to the Mayo Clinic. Reminding the people you love that they are appreciated, can make a world of difference not only in your life but in others. And Thankr makes it incredibly easy to send a little gratitude message! Next time you are feeling down, try sending a virtual thank you note.
