Web hosting is a service which we can place our websites and files on the hosting companies web servers.

Do you know that websites and files are stored in web servers in datacenters. But, if you want create your own website, do need your own datacenter? Fortunately the answer is no.

Then how do we store our own website?

Developers can launch their websites into the internet using something called web hosting. This web hosting can be known as a service. From that we can place our websites and files on the hosting companies web servers. What we do here is essentially renting the space in return for secure and stable storage. Individuals also can rent these spaces.

There are different types of hosting services you can use.

Shared hosting

Virtual Private hosting

Dedicated hosting

Cloud hosting

Shared hosting

If you are deciding to host a small website with small number of visitors or you are practicing to hosting or deploying your website this is the best hosting service type for you. This is the cheapest from web hosting. You need to pay for your location on the web server, containing other web hosting accounts with shared hosting. This means you share the memory, service processing power and bandwidth with other websites. But the disadvantage is this might slow your performance.

Virtual Private hosting

This is a virtual server which is also known as virtual private surface which more expensive than shared hosting. A website with a considerable demand can use this web hosting service. Advantages of using this hosting service type is you will get dedicated CPU facilities, memory and bandwidth resources.

Dedicated hosting

This is a hardware server which is dedicated to you only. But this hosting type is more expensive that VPS hosting. The advantage of this hosting type is all hardware, memory ,CPU and bandwidth resources are yours to use which might not slow down your performance.

Cloud hosting

The cloud environment is something which spans around various virtual and physical servers. Now your website is running in this cloud environment. The advantages of using this cloud hosting is you can use many resources as you need without hardware limitaions. Also if one physical or virtual server fails your website will run on a different server an stay online. How ever you need to pay for this as you use the resources. For example, if you transfer a file from the Cloud to a web browser, you’ll pay for the bandwidth used for that transfer at a fractional cent cost per megabyte.
