Haha please allow me to paraphrase:

If all large corporations adopted this, it could reduce litigation by effectively stripping start-ups and smaller companies of patent rights while effectively strengthening our patent rights.

I believe in property rights, and I support the right of any patent-holder to control the terms on which others may use their IP. I have no problem with FB’s choice to use strong patent retaliation clauses (from a legal pov).

But if FB actually cared about reducing only meritless litigation, rather than simply stripping smaller companies and individuals of legitimate patent rights, this term would be structured very differently.

Also … WTF is up with tech companies thinking they should be judged on what they say, rather than on what they DO?

It’s like these guys have crafted a narrative in their minds where they are superheroes, in pursuit of all that is right and good … and when they act like normal humans to gain competitive advantages or maximize their profits, they can’t risk shaking their self-image by honestly acknowledging what they’re doing.
