where wind comes from

I used to think the leaves
bunched on the trees
created the wind

like I’d step outside
into the shine
the trees would see me
and they’d erupt
in greeting
crazy waving
saying hello

and their waving
pushed the air
down the streets
over the lawn
through my hair
across the skies

I used to think the leaves
made wind blow
and to tell you the truth
I’ve yet to find
convincing proof
it’s otherwise
