You actually do sound like someone with sour milk. I can go through your article and your comments and see nothing that says that UX is no longer needed. Let’s take your call center idea.

They’re noticing users are getting error messages, but those error messages don’t include a way to fix the error. Who provides the solution? It requires copywriting, it likely requires ui, it likely requires an event which will also require ui.

Who fixes that? Because I can tell you from experience, having the dev team do that is a bad idea. Having the call center team do that is a bad idea. Having the product owners do that is a bad idea.

The basic reality is if you want a good user experience, you need people whose domain is to handle the user experience. Without that, you have a bad product. So call those people whatever you want, the need for them is always there.
