How I Explained Anxiety as a Teenager

a poem:
Me & Me
Don’t yell at me. I don’t mean to sound stupid. I can’t help that what I said came out so fast.
— Well you could think before you speak.
I did. It sounded good.
— Think like a normal person!
Shut up! You’re making me cry.
— I don’t care — you’re stupid and you deserve to cry.
Shut up!
— No. Listen to me. Just keep your mouth shut from now on.
Okay… I will.
— You don’t. You always say that.
I try not to be weird and stupid, but I can’t stop. I want to, but I can’t.
— I know, I know. Just try to be normal.
Don’t you see? I am normal. …This is me.
