I’m returning to aviation journalism
The beginning of September is the perfect time to start new things.
So I’m excited to announce a new phase in my career: I’m returning to covering the passenger experience, and various other aspects of commercial aviation, as a full-time journalist and travel columnist. Freelance.
The aviation industry continues to fascinate me, and if we learned anything from the spate of incidents in the last year, it’s that journalists with a real understanding of how the industry works, and particularly how important the passenger experience can be, are in very short supply. It’s time to fill that gap.
To start with, I’ll be writing for the Runway Girl Network. To say that I’ve long admired Mary Kirby’s knowledge, passion and approach is a dramatic understatement. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Mary and the rest of the outstanding RGN team. To start off with, I’ll be talking cabin interiors, industry trends, and premium cabins. You can read my first piece, on the current opportunities for middle cabins, right now.
I’ll also be continuing to contribute to Australian Aviation, including with my monthly passenger column, Cabin Pressure. Australia is such an unusual and fascinating aviation market, and I love writing about it. I’ll be in the antipodes for four months this year from November through March.
Other freelance work is also on the cards, and I’m lining up a few opportunities already. If your publication or site would be interested in knowledgeable, well-written, exclusive content delivered on time and with immaculate copy, please get in touch.
I’m looking forward to APEX, and then to spending September–November in Korea and Japan, cashing in a goodly number of air miles to fly on the best that Korean Air, Japan Airlines and Air New Zealand have to offer. I can’t wait!
