Captain Chiel Merksen

Let’s start with the ‘boss of the boat’, our captain Chiel Merksen. As a captain, Chiel is responsible for the ship, our crew and you, the passengers. His job is therefore ‘pretty’ important. Chiel cares a lot about his crew and especially his passengers. He makes sure that everything goes well and he likes to connect with his passengers by socializing with them. He has experienced a lot throughout his career as a captain, so he loves to tell his tales-from-the-sea to his passengers. So, if you’re on The Crews and you see a captain-looking-figure walking around waving and greeting you, you now know who it is. Ahoy Captain!

As we explained, our captain has some major responsibilities that he can’t just all take care of by himself. So that’s where our staff captain comes in. This staff captain’s name is Jona Lampe de Sausa. Jona helps Captain Merksen run the ship, in all details. He makes sure that all of Captain Chiel’s orders are carried out. Jona is not just an experienced and licensed staff captain, he has also graduated from the prestigious Korea Maritime University. This has taught him all the fine ropes of the job, pun intended.

Of course, our captains take care of the ship but they wouldn’t be able to do what our Chief Engineer does. Freman Haiven is responsible for maintaining our beautiful ship and its systems. Another thing he’s responsible for is managing the various crew members in the department. Our Chief Engineer is a special one, he studied marine engineering at the Netherlands Maritime University and has spent 4 years at sea. On top of that, he’s extremely intelligent and passionate about making sure our ship is in its best state throughout the trip.

Chief Enigeneer Freman Haven
CEO Mikayla Crump

The fun activities on the boat and the cross cultural port events are our CEO Mikayla Crump’s responsibility. Mind you, CEO doesn’t stand for Chief Executive Officer but for Chief Entertainment Officer. Duh! Mikayla is not only in charge of all the social and cultural events, she’s also in charge of all sports events aboard. These go from crossfit to soccer, and from ballroom dancing to deck marathon running. So if you’re aboard, and you pass a panting lady in a sports outfit. It’s probably Miss. Crump. Apart from her athletic and creative creation skills, she has an exceptional choice in movies and local music bands, so the movie night on board is 100% going to be something you don’t want to miss out on!

Do you want to know more about all our our on-board and of-board activities that support the local communities of our port destinations? Go to http://thecrews.mystrikingly.com/?utm_source=Medium&utm_medium=Article&utm_campaign=Test_Floor_6_entertainmentand find out!

CHO Jenny Marvin

Last, but definitely not least is our very own Jenny Marvin. Jenny is our CHO, which stands for Chief Hospitality Officer. This means that she mainly focuses on ensuring our passengers of an excellent customer service while aboard. Jenny has a genuine care and compassionate nature which makes her a perfect fit for the job. She enjoys looking after our passengers and we believe that any passenger is lucky to have her as a host on board. Jenny is always there for our passengers, to help and support them in whatever they need and want.

And that’s our amazing crew! They’re extremely excited to be setting sail in 2020 and fulfill all of our traveller’s wishes!
