Here at theBoardlist, we’re focused on helping open doors to one of the most exclusive rooms in the business world — the board room. Our community is filled with strong, accomplished, and experienced ladies who are at the pinnacle of their careers. But, we’re only one piece of the inspiration puzzle.

In honor of Women’s Equality Day (August 26), which marks the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, we’ve pulled together a list of organizations and individuals — big and small — who are making strides in building and broadening the ranks of women leaders in business at all stages of a woman’s life — from elementary school to returnships.

Organizations for Girls and Teenagers

  • Girl Scouts — we adore the Girl Scouts for their work to help build self esteem and open doors for girls around the world.
  • Step Up — we’ve worked with Step Up in the past and support their mission to pair professional women with teen girls through after-school and mentorship programs.
  • Girls Inc. — inspires confidence and strength in girls via educational and social programs from STEM to sports.
  • Girls Who Code — Free summer programs and after-school coding clubs for teen girls. Great way to get girls interested in computer programming.

Organizations for Early in Your Career / Mentorship

  • The Guild — Networking for women; focused on earlier career. Founded by a friend of theBoardlist, Anne Cocquyt.
  • LandIt — founded by a member of theBoardlist community, Lisa Skeete Tatum with the goal of creating a personalized playbook for professional women to move their career forward.
  • Levo League — network focused on helping female millennials navigate and advance their careers. Includes a suite of products, mentoring program and lots of great content.
  • Lean In —Sheryl Sandberg’s global organization connects women to provide a support network to help them achieve all of their ambitions.

Organizations for New Female Founders

  • Leaders in Tech — a YPO-like org focused on female executives. Founded by Sue Khim.
  • #FemaleFounders Slack — global community of female founders who connect over Slack, sharing best practices, success stories and asking questions of one another.
  • Women Founders Network — “virtual accelerator” connecting women founders with the tools and resources they need to achieve success.
  • Women 2.0 — Lots of support for female founders and resources for all women in tech. (h/t Kate Brodock).

Organizations for Mid-stage or Later in Your Career

  • Apres Group— Returnship focused group for women who have taken career breaks.
  • WEST (Women Entering and Staying in Tech) — Mentorships for women in technology; focused on mid-career. Founded by Heidi Williams, former VP Engineering at Box.
  • The Female Quotient — creator of The Girls’ Lounge, a community of corporate women who work together at industry conferences to advance equality in the workforce.
