BYJU’s the Learning APP — My Prejudice!

I am not here to convey about the features of this Learning APP. Of course, it became a Learning App for me without enrolling, for a few reasons.
Yes, But come on guys, who on earth and especially Malayalis, would expect a brand named BYJU to evolve from nowhere and it earns a place in the global arena. Because, we on the whole , OK, I will exclude others, as a person from Kerala, the name “BYJU” or “Baiju”, both are pronounced same, is something like we have a concept or an image and it is NOT JUST ONE. One of the image is that of “Ayyappa Baiju”, the character of an alcoholic played by a Comedian. And there are other images like which are often being enclosed into stereotypes . You would never ever expect them to be good by any chance. So, its almost like, if your name is Baiju or Byju, you go to school, college, then job, marry, family, retirement and death, that’s it. You are not here for a Mass Entry, You are born to die. So, in General , this is the prejudice that We all have , I mean the Keralites or Malayalis have. You can even categorize this as racism. Whats your name ? Baiju? Then, your end is death. BYJU? Your only goal should be death.😂

So, because of this APP there occurred two changes in me even without downloading it. One is that I had this belief that I dont carry any sort of prejudice and this APP pinpointed me that I had a prejudice. And then I also I had this analysis when I heard of the APP for the first time, “BYJU’s” and I was like “What the F*** man ”, “I mean, Are we short of names”?. Comeon Man! BYJU’s? And I sarcastically ditched their venture in my mind just because they had this name, “BYJU’S”. So the Brand name is more like that of a Self- Realization story in which i hit hard on my prejudice and sarcasm. Well, Mallus are kings in both, isn’t it? And today, they are everywhere, they are talked about in every place as if BYJU’s is the only brand that has enough money for their advertising.
Tomorrow if there comes, “RAMU’s the Cleaning APP”, I will think, “Oh, this will be great” ….RAMU’s ….Wow! what a name!
Hats off to you Brother, Mr. Byju Raveendran. “Enna Und eh? Sukham thanne Alle” (Well, that was a bit of malayalam for him). I am really proud for how you have build a business empire stressing on education, as an Indian and of course a Malayali.
Thank God that you didn’t launch “BYJU’s” during my schooldays and I hope you dont mind if I convey that if you had done that, then I would have to learn Maths in School, then in Tuition Class and then also in Smartphones. But those days, there were no Smartphones or tablets but you never know you might even come up with something to showcase your simple Maths learning skills. Isn’t it?
I actually hated Maths and do it even now. And the prime reason for that was during my 9th standard, I was taught Pythagoras theorem. So, those days, me, the so called ‘immature lad’ did think for deep that in what way would I apply Pythagoras theorem in my life. And that was the last year I ever I had to go through it . I never used it in my life after that man! What the hell, like My Dad is paying fees to the school such that i learn those things in life I would never need in life. Who knows, may be my dad was paying the penance for engaging in the act that resulted to my creation.
Learning ‘probability’ should not be made compulsory man. What I mean is LEARNING PROBABILITY SHOULD IN ITSELF BE A PROBABILITY. What do you guys think? Come on Man, you can calculate equations or formula, whatever but then you struggle to calculate life? Cool, baby Cool!
6th Standard, Maths test paper. I knew that I will fail. So, I didnt bother to write my name on the paper. I thought, “She was testing my skill, so why can’t I test her skill. Catch me if you can”.
7th standard, Maths teacher asks me some question and I didn’t answer that and she pinches me like hell. And I was like , “Ek din mein iska badla loonga”(One day I will take revenge for this”). And indeed I had many opportunities for that when i grew up, probably crossed 20 and I have seen her a few times walking on the road and I would literally calculate in my mind to run towards her and hold her hand and pinch and say, “Never ever pinch anyone’s hand”. But then i thought that it’s a poor way of calculation. 😉 I might even end up in jail.
I remember my Maths Teacher who once got pissed off with us (i mean the students) as we were completely noisy. And she got furious and says, “I have 33 years of experience in teaching Maths. Dont teach me” and I was like, “Woho! What a stupid way of calculation. Your 1 year of experience was repeated 32 times.” (within my mind).
There was another Maths teacher who in between the class would say, “What are you doing, You Stupid?”. And I was like, if you really knew that he was a stupid, then why teach him Dude?
Maths was fun, BIG BANG FUN, not for learning it , but for not trying to learn it. And I had to go through different situations and it is Maths which gave me the management skills to tackle them. Later on, I found out that, this is how Government office works! Forged Documents, Signatures, oohhu, oohhu etc etc.
