The first step is always the hardest.
While all the points you’ve made are valid, there’s one thing you, and a lot of other people, seem to miss: unless someone takes the initial plunge, wireless audio technology will not progress at the rate that it should.
Removing the headphone jack means that people will now have to choose between carrying a dongle or just biting the bullet and investing in a pair of new head/earphones. Yes, most of the initial purchases will be skewed towards the Earpods(a name that conjures images of a Xenomorph ear-’hugger’) and Beats. But soon other audio manufacturers will jump onto the bandwagon and start investing in more affordable Bluetooth devices with a higher audio quality.
This will lead to the push for the audio source devices(mainly smartphones) implementing higher grade Bluetooth chipsets. These would necessarily be required to provide a higher efficiency in battery consumption
In time, wireless head/earphones will becomes better than the current wired options.
So, yeah, Apple removing the headphone jack will be problematic for a certain amount of time, but eventually it’ll lead to newer and shinier toys for all of us. Just like the iPod led to the current smartphone generation.
