That may be true, but you know as well as I do that it doesn’t work that way. Things like racism, white privilege, abortion, religion, aren’t ideas people are still fleshing out. They are fairly set in their opinions. Civil discussions might be able to change a few minds, but not enough to make the needed changes. Since you can’t forcefully change someone maybe the best we can try for is to not allow a public environment that cultivates these feelings and gives them prominent platforms.

I’m not sure the best way to address these issues, but calling someone out when they are being rude, ignorant, etc isn’t a bad thing.
