It’s About Value, Not Complexity: How to Get That Recognition
Have you ever sat through a presentation where someone showcased a simple Excel sheet and received a standing ovation (or something close to it)? Meanwhile, you’re sitting there thinking, What the heck? That was just a basic spreadsheet! Month after month, they present their “simple thing,” and somehow, they keep getting all the recognition. You wonder, Is it because they get to present? If only I had a platform, I’d get the same praise… right?

Here’s the harsh truth: It’s not about who presents. It’s not even about how often they do it. It’s about value.
I myself got more praised for a really simple PowerApp that I initially made as a side interest for myself while working on a much bigger project. That app ended up being rolled out for the entire tribe with other tribes also showing interest. Why? because it brought value to someone. (Which got me thinking into writing this article)
The Trap of Complexity
Too many of us fall into the trap of believing that complexity equals value. We assume that if we pour endless hours into crafting intricate solutions, people will automatically see the genius in our work. But here’s the kicker: nobody cares about complexity unless it brings value.
