I’d love to think you’re right, but we did lose two of those elections while winning the popular vote. I don’t know if those loses have anything to do with party unity or not, but my feeling is that it did cost Clinton this last election. It’s a hard thing to prove, but there was certainly a lot of infighting around her candidacy.
You might call her a flawed candidate, but that never seems to stop the Republicans from turning up and winning— I mean, Trump is certainly flawed! I don’t even know if he’s a Republican. It seems to me the party got behind Obama and that coalition is at least one version of a winning strategy for Dems. And at the very least… it is deflating to watch Liberals shame and eat their allies.
Maybe it’s just a FB liberal Facebook group phenomenon. But it sure is depressing.
