Are you clay enough?
Changes must come, the question is how you react to them. At the bootcamp, I’ve seen a lot of changes and so far I’ve been able to adapt.
Prior to the bootcamp, my programming methods were crude, inefficient and slow. At the bootcamp, several things have been introduced including Test Driven Development, Agile/Scrum and Continuous Integration. These are totally new to me and it’s not an option to learn them if I must make it to the fellowship program, it’s a must.
I remember how it felt, trying to build a project by just simply writing code without any processes and management. It was horrible, draining emotionally and physically. I even began doubting my desire to follow this career path. Since I took the decision to be at Andela, I feel eager to get to work every morning and find a painful-joy in staying up late and learning new stuff is really exciting and keeps the passion flowing. I don’t care about what other change that may come my way, if it aligns with my goals, I will embrace it.
I am very happy to be here and have all these new things thrown at me and just like clay, when stones (or change) are thrown at it, it doesn’t break. I won’t break. Also, just like stones, changes cause some discomfort and I am willing and determined to endure those discomforts.
