I was there yesterday as a Bernie delegate and was one of those completely embarrassed by the small minded anarchy that erupted when the preliminary count was offered, as well as the continued outbursts throughout. Booing Catherine, among other things, was just….absurd.

I could nitpick a thing or two in your write up but I think in general we’re in agreement. One place where we definitely diverge is that you seem to think it wrapped up reasonably, whereas I and everyone I know were shocked at how it ended. Not that we disagree that it did have to end.

In my interactions with people on Friday and Saturday and online today there were two big things that hampered the Sanders effort:

  1. Delegates simply didn’t show up. And if you don’t have asses in seats, you don’t have anything.
  2. A lot of these guys are completely ignorant of the rules. Many of them also seem to think that it is appropriate to just yell when you don’t like things.

I feel like there were no adults in the room from the campaign, the campaign didn’t give any guidance beyond advising us that the rules were out to screw us (somehow), and we were constantly being told to stay in the room till the bitter end so that the Hillary camp can’t get away with….something.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to write this up, and good for you guys for getting so many delegates to attend. Good luck in the general, Hillary’s going to need a lot of it.
