“7 years of building this account and gaining 100k+ followers and MILLIONS of tweet impressions monthly, everything gone.

Talk about censorship.”

Did you not, at any point, think it was unwise to spend seven years investing yourself in building a public presence which existed entirely at the mercy of a third party who had no interest in your wellbeing and who had no obligations to you? Furthermore, to call what twitter did ‘censorship’ is stretching a point somewhat; they’re a private business, and may refuse to provide their services to you (or anyone else) at their discretion. It is exactly this power which allows them to close the accounts of frothing right-wing bigots; they are not obliged to provide you with a platform to express your views.

Their conduct in this matter is reprehensible, and it is clear you are the victim, but nonetheless your complaint in this piece seems to boil down to: “A company which was providing me with a free service stopped doing so when I used that service to complain about their ethics.”

You should have known from the outset that your seven years of work existed entirely at their mercy, and you should not be surprised that you have lost it by angering them.
