Techstars LA startup Manatee launches its innovative healthcare app and scores a coveted pilot partnership.
Manatee is democratizing mental healthcare by providing everyday therapy for kids powered by AI. The startup’s digital platform empowers families by clearly outlining treatment goals, such as communication and social skills, with a gamified platform for children. Manatee just launched its app for parents and therapists, which you can download in the app store or on google play.
Growing up in a household with a mother with ADHD and an autistic brother and father, Manatee’s founder and CEO Damayanti Dipayana became deeply passionate about mental health. Manatee’s mission is to support the emotional well-being for kids dealing with anxiety, autism, ADHD, or other behavioral issues.
Manatee hasn’t only created a fun and interactive way for kids to engage in therapy, but it is scientifically proven. Its cognitive behavioral therapy is backed by clinicians and has pilot programs with leading research centers including the National Mental Health Innovation Center at the University of Colorado. Recently, Manatee was selected to be a part of the Digital Health Lab at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
As far as customer discovery, Manatee has employed some heavyweight experts to help them develop their cutting edge tech: Kids. The startup just finished their feedback session with the Junior Ambassadors, who gave them ideas of what they want from Manatee.
Manatee is focused on innovative tech and was recently named a semifinalist in the Prime Health Challenge. However, what makes Manatee special isn’t just the tech, but the commitment they have to their vision of empowering families. During the Techstars LA program they are laser-focused on increasing mental health care access for families and re-imagining traditional therapy.
