“What are our desired futures?”

As part of our 50-State Dinner Party Project, hosts from around the nation are gathering youth, adults, and elders around share meals to creatively and conversationally examine the question, “What are our desired futures?”

Over dinner, guests are invited to share a symbol of their desired future. These symbols are presented as slides to give them a photographic reference and placing it within the field from which it came: Youth Media. Additionally, the location and date is printed on the side. Through location, symbology, and time, it offers a view into a single perspective of a desired future.

Together, the slideshow brings all of the singular perspectives into an easy-to-understand format that tells a story bigger than itself. It gives visual language and metaphor to our desired futures.

Now, we want you to take a look at them. React to the ones that move you. Comment on what you see. Notice trends and themes. Find the dissonance and divergence. And maybe through both a verbal/written and visual conversation we can discover how to manifest these desired futures.
