last weekend’s wedding

This past weekend, I attended a wedding near Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was my boyfriend’s friend’s wedding.

It was an amazing time. We stayed at a lovely inn near the grounds for the ceremony. It was a weekend-long celebration, and I had a blast.

The decor was lovely. The bouquets and arrangements were designed by George K. Walker Florist. I love flowers so much, so if I’m at any kind of special event involving flowers, I’m instantly happy. This wedding was particularly beautiful because the flowers included my favorite color — orange. There was orange, white, and green. I had lots of wonderful conversations standing next to these flowers. I even got to take some of them home.

But, I did cause a bit of controversy though at one point. How, you ask?

Well, I don’t drink alcohol. And at a wedding, everyone drinks.

At one point, while everyone was out on the dance floor, I could see the groom’s stepdad approaching me. He’s an interesting fellow. He’s a psychologist, so he’s always trying to figure out other people’s behaviors.

He asked me why I wasn’t drinking alcohol. I casually said, “Well, I just don’t like what it does to me. It’s not fun for me. I’d rather just be sober. It makes me feel really sick the next day.”

He nodded. “I can understand that.”

He looked at me again. “So, you smoke weed?”

I smiled. “Nope. I just like to be sober.”

His jaw dropped. “But you’re so young!” he exclaimed.

I smiled again. Nothing more satisfying that dumbfounding a psychologist!
