Microsoft has launched the Xbox One X at the E3 2017. Being equipped with a massive hardware upgrade, the device can elevate the gaming experience to an entirely new level. On the other hand, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 Pro last year. Having a combination of native and upscaled 4K gaming, it has been able to win the hearts of the hardcore gamers. But which one is worthy of your hard earned money?

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: Hardware

The Xbox One X comes with the upgraded AMD GPU that offers six teraflops of graphics output. It also has a super-fast processor, which has a clock speed of 2.3 GHz, and the massive 12 GB DDR5 RAM. On the other hand, the PlayStation 4 Pro has been packed with the integrated AMD Polaris GPU with 4.2 teraflops of graphics output. The performance of the GPU is good. But as the number says, it is nowhere near to the GPU of the Xbox One X. Same thing goes for the 2.1-GHz “Jaguar” CPU. The PS 4 Pro also has less amount of RAM (8GB). So, regarding powerful hardware, the Microsoft Xbox One X is the real champ.

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: Graphics Performance

The Microsoft One X can provide you with the native 4K gaming experience. It can run 4K games at 60 fps. But that doesn’t mean that all the upcoming games will run at the specific frame rate. It can only happen if the developers decide to take advantage of the massively upgraded hardware. The PlayStation 4 Pro doesn’t support the native 4K resolution. But it can enhance the resolution close to 4K. Thanks to the application of the latest technologies, including checkboard rendering.

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: Exclusive Titles

There are a lot of games that can be played on both of the platforms. But when you consider the exclusive titles, you will find that the Xbox fails to beat PlayStation traditionally. Microsoft has revealed 42 new games for its consoles. Among them, 22 are “console launch exclusive,” including Forza Motorsport 7, Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves. On the other hand, PlayStation 4 Pro has a larger library of exclusive titles, including God of War, Uncharted: Lost Legacy and Detroit: Become Human. Highly anticipated super-hero games, like Marvel’s Spider-Man, which will be released in the next year, is only compatible with PlayStation. So, if you are a fan of exclusive titles, the PlayStation 4 Pro is the right choice for you.

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: VR

Microsoft is currently working on building VR headsets for Windows 10 PCs. But it hasn’t announced anything related to the VR for the new Xbox One X. However, PlayStation 4 Pro can utilize the particular technology, as it supports the PlayStation VR headset. If you want to play the latest VR games, like Batman: Arkham VR, the PS 4 Pro is your only option.

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: Media

In terms of playing online videos in 4K resolution, both of the platforms perform well. They make the content of YouTube and Netflix absolutely stunning. However, when you consider about physical 4K media, like 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray discs, the Xbox One X is the winner. It comes with a player that is able to run specific discs. But do not expect the same thing from PlayStation 4 Pro. Sony decided not to use any UHD Blu-ray player in its latest gaming console. So, it cannot play 4K movie discs.

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: Price

Microsoft has decided to tag the Xbox One X with a relatively higher price of $499 in the US. But it looks quite reasonable with respect to the massively upgraded hardware. However, the PlayStation 4 Pro is available at only $399 right now. The price can even be lowered to $299 if its rival performs better in the global gaming market.

Microsoft Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: The Verdict

If you consider about the powerful specification and outstanding graphics performance, the Microsoft Xbox One is completely unbeatable right now. It is able to run games with a much better frame rates and effects. But the high-end specs have made Microsoft’s latest gaming console really expensive. However, in this case, the PlayStation 4 Pro has the edge, as it costs you $100 less. Moreover, it’s the only VR gaming console on the market and supports more exclusive titles. So, if you focus on price, VR and a larger gaming library, the PS 4 Pro is the right option. However, if you emphasize more on performance and want to invest your money on a console that can be compatible with the VR in the near future, the Xbox One is really worth of your hard earned money.
