You can’t really do better than all american in college. Out of the 24 Mcdonald’s AA per year there have been 13 freshman AA since Calipari got to Kentucky. 4 of those were Cal’s players.

Cal plays to the strengths of his best players and lets them showcase their strengths. Do some of them develop different aspect of their game after they leave Kentucky? Of course, pretty much everyone develops at least some. I think what you would call “putting them in a box” I would call magnifying/showcasing their strengths. Just because a guy develops a skill in the NBA doesn’t mean he had that skill in college. There’s a big change between college and the NBA.
