The calm before the storm

So as most people who know me (and indeed, keep up to date with me) will know, in just under two weeks I will be beginning a huge new chapter in my life.

On the 5th of September 2017 I will be flying from London Stansted Airport to Brno-Turany Airport in the Czech Republic to begin a 4-month long stay for the purpose of studying abroad under the Erasmus scheme. And to cut a long story short — I’ve hit the stage whereby I’m more nervous than excited.

Don’t get me wrong — it’s an amazing opportunity and I really can’t wait to experience a different culture, but the thought of being away from family, friends, places I know and the familiarity of home makes me nervous. Maybe its just jitters? After all, it is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this — especially on such a large scale! I’m still not fully sorted and ready to go for gods sake! Even now, I have to arrange insurance, somewhere to stay for my first few days in Brno, start packing, all around a full-time job and god-knows what else. Still, to quote a famous grumpy old man, how hard can it be?
