The 64th BFI London Film Festival is adapting to circumstance and going digital this year for the first time. Festival season is often a large precursor to films we can expect to see painting the awards cycle, and it would appear that 2020 is no exception.

The festival opener will be Steve McQueen’s Mangrove, a 126-minute depiction of the Mangrove Nine who were arrested and tried for inciting a riot during a protest in the year 1970. …
