Izanagi: divine creator god of Japan
Hello friends, welcome to exciting and mysterious story. Today we are going to tell you the story of a great god whose name is Izanagi. This story will take us back to a time when the world was being created, and the mysteries between heaven and earth were being revealed. So let’s start this amazing journey, and know the story of Izanagi.
“This is the story of those days when creation was beginning. The heavens and the earth had been created, but the earth was still desolate and dull. The gods entrusted Izanagi and his sister Izanami with the responsibility of giving life to the earth. They both stood on the bridge of heaven, and in their hands was Ame-no-Nuboko, the divine spear with which they began to churn the waters of the sea.
This churning led to the birth of the first islands of Japan. This act of Izanagi and Izanami was incredible. After the composition of these islands, they realized that their bodies complement each other. Izanagi proposed marriage to Izanami, so that they could build more gods and lands. But the first time they performed the wedding ceremony, something went wrong. Izanami began the ritual by speaking first, and the offspring that resulted were deformed and unwell. Seeing this, both of them again performed the ritual of marriage, this time by speaking first. This time their marriage was successful, and they rightly gave birth to islands and gods. But in this unique journey of life, there was also sadness. Izanami gave birth to her last child, Kagutsuchi, the god of fire, but this birth took her life. Broken by this deep grief, Izanagi killed Kagutsuchi, yet his heart remained empty. In hopes of bringing back his beloved wife, he embarked on a journey to Yomi-no-kuni, the land of death.
In Yomi, Izanagi found Izanami, but she was no longer the same. She was now just a rotten corpse inside which the demons had settled. Izanami had taken Yomi’s food, leaving her imprisoned there forever. Seeing this, Izanagi got frightened and started running away from there. Izanami sent a huge army of demons behind them.
Izanagi imprisoned Izanami and his demons by placing a huge stone at Yomi’s door. In anger, Izanami cursed that she would kill a thousand people every day. In response, Izanagi pledged that he would create fifteen hundred new lives every day, so that there would be continuity of life in this world.
Surrounded by the impurity of death, Izanagi decided to purify himself. He went to a hot spring and purified himself with water. When he washed his left eye, Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, was born. From the right eye was born the moon god Tsukuyomi and from the nose was born the storm god Susanoo
Izanagi declared these gods the rulers of heaven and established a new divine law. He made Amaterasu the chief ruler of heaven, and himself served as his guide. Thus, Izanagi handed over the power of heaven to his daughter, and he is worshipped as such even today.Friends, this was the story of Izanagi who built the islands of Japan, created gods, and established the law of heaven.
