Being born in 1958 with a father in the USN I can say that almost the entire space program was “my” program. He helped me to develop a love of science and technology with the early NASA space programs being the worlds greatest incubators of both. There have always been those convinced the money could be better spent on … However the scientific knowledge gained and the technologies enjoyed by society today that came from these programs are very often overlooked. We must continue to explore and the inclusion of commercial venture may well keep the programs going.
