The importance of jewellery

Jewellery is all around us. It’s in different colours, shapes, forms, sizes, weights, and carries meaning that sometimes we overlook. I’m interested in talking to people about their Jewellery — where did you get it from? why? how old is it? what’s the story? Alongside this, I will be researching and finding out interesting facts, figures and information on Jewellery. From Rose Quartz to Silver to Wood — I want to find out the importance of jewellery.
When tasked with the idea of creating a social media channel which could about anything, on any platform; I wanted it to be something unique. I had a desire to create a channel to satisfy my audience’s visual, emotional and educational needs through beautifully shot pictures, informative captions and close audience engagement. Now…where could I possibly perform that?
Instagram, of course!

Instagram: the low-down
Whilst it is commonly known for its countless food pictures, strangers competing to look the best and gain the most ‘likes’, and being a key source of inspiration in many areas— it will be my own personal key to unlock an interesting, thought-provoking channel. Instagram has plenty of features in order to engage interest, spread awareness, spark interaction and lastly let loose a creative flow into your images, caption and #hashtag choices.
According to JumperMedia.co’s Instagram Stats Article, “Over half of the user base (of Instagram) are between 18 and 34, so if your audience fits in that bracket, you kinda need to be on Instagram if you want to get noticed.”
The Target Audience
My target audience is aimed primarily at 16–25-year-olds, as my topic of Jewellery interweaved into everyday life will focus on trending pieces, interesting facts and personal opinions. I believe that my target audience will be able to relate, take in information and feel interested or even inspired.
According to Influencer Marketing Hub’s Instagram Posting Article, the peak times of global Instagram interaction is around mid-day on Wednesday and Friday. This, therefore, gives me a good guide on when to post at what time in order to gain the best engagement on my channel.

My associated marketing channels:
Twitter is a handy platform to spread awareness of your channel, live-tweet and catch up with the world within a click of a button — hence Twitter being my key marketing channel to advertise my Instagram. Twitter users vary drastically in age however it is a popular platform for my target audience of 16–25 year olds. Gaining Twitter followers is a simple process, and connecting with like-minded people and potential audiences can be achieved better than, say, advertising it on YouTube in this case.
With all this in mind, I aim to produce an interesting and engaging social media channel which will achieve audience engagement, trigger curiosity and create wonder.
