Have you wished your weekend was at least one day longer? Have you dreamed about switching the days for work and rest, meaning having five days of relaxation and two days for working?

Sometimes I experience an anxiety on Sunday nights as a new week is about to start. For some reason, Mondays are tough, but why?

One part of the answer may be related to work. Do you generally wake up excited about your new day or because you are about to go to work? Congratulations! You are within a small percentage of the world’s population, who have found an engaging job. If this is not the case, you are not alone.

Now, the other part of the equation might be our attitude. Let’s think about the following parable. There was a traveler who happened upon some stonemasons:

What are you doing? –he asked them.

I’m making a living -one of them answered.

But the other one said, I’m building a cathedral.

For sure, our work impacts other people’s lives. Consequently, if we focus in the value with add to them and offer our services, what we do will make more sense to us and could become a source of motivation.

How do we do to make any of our days more inspiring?

  1. Possibly, you’ve already watched this video. Watch it again.
  2. Look at the mirror and think: Do I like what I see (and I don’t mean our body) and what I’m about to do today?
  3. If you’re satisfied, but you still find it hard to get motivated in the mornings, let’s work our attitude. Studies suggest that using your work as a means to help others can increase your level of satisfaction and reduce stress. So, by remembering that we are agents under the service of a greater good, we might encourage ourselves to keep creating value. On the contrary, if you’re not satisfied, write down on a piece of paper those things you’ve always wanted to do or be, and that for fear, time, money, or any other reason, you have neglected to do. Picture yourself from now to a couple of years. Is it feasible to start working for that dream? Then, don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today. Life is now. If you want to do or achieve something, the key is to just start. Once you give that first step, the universe will open the possibility for you. Here are some recommendations to get inspired:

4. Some tips to improve your day

  • Keep your house organized, as simple as making your bed, washing the dishes, put away your cloth, etc. I always say that our house, the way it looks, reflects how we feel. So, by keeping everything in place, you’ll definitely see how the environment changes and how these changes can help you get more active and start your activities.
  • Get dressed. Pajamas may be very comfortable, but they also tend to keep you in bed.
  • Listen to vibrant music.
  • Go out for a walk. Let nature surprise you. Breathe. Do you know this particular activity can improve your health?
  • Enjoy your way to the office. Get rid of your headphones and feel connected to your surroundings.

So, what do you do to start your day more motivated? Share your experience in the comments below. I would love to hear from you.
