Eve

I loved reading Eve’s memoirs because it was easy. Nothing about her writing was tied to ego or correctness: two boring yet super stressful qualities that defined 2015.

These quotations do a good job of summing up her style and content:

“There are three basic personality factors in cats: The kind who run up when you say hello and rub against you in cheap romance; the kind who run away certain that you mean to ravish them; and the kind who just look back and don’t move a muscle. I love all three kinds.
 — I like this quote because I like cats.

“The Vatican has always enforced its efforts by continuously playing up that it was hell not to be in heaven until finally everyone forgot the entire point, which was that they should be at their own party in the meantime, just in case … Just in case death is other people having fun without you.”
 — I like this quote because dying sucks and I hate when people pretend it doesn’t.

Taquitos are much better than heroin, it’s just that no one knows about them and heroin’s so celebrated… you could be blind and deaf and that still leaves you the taquitos.”
 — I like this quote because Mexican food is the superior cuisine of the world.

“Here she’d wanted this polished finish, and what it looked like she’d done was a jagged prologue.”
 — I like this quote because Wow What A Great Way to End.
