Dawn of Crypton Is Migrating From Boba Avax Back to Avalanche!
In July 2022, Cosmic Universe migrated from Harmony to Avalanche. Then, in November 2022, we established a partnership with Boba Network to use their new Boba Avax layer-2 on Avalanche for our gaming-related contracts and NFTs, while keeping our project’s token, MAGIC, as well as its liquidity pools, bank, staking, and yield farms on Avalanche.
We partnered with Boba because it enabled our then newly-released minigame Dawn of Crypton a fast and cheap network to play on. However, we have recently been informed that Boba Network & Enya Labs have decided to sunset their Boba Avax L2 in order to consolidate and build upon the growth of their ecosystem on Boba ETH and Boba BNB. This means we must recreate all of our smart contracts that became integrated into Boba Avax’s hybrid compute on Avalanche, our project’s L1, which will be done over the next several weeks given there are a lot of complex smart contracts.
In the meantime, any players who have any NFTs or MAGIC on Boba Avax should bridge them back to Avalanche preferably by the end of the month, where Dawn or Crypton and the upcoming Pre-Alpha of our flagship MMORPG will be played, as of right now.
The average transaction on Avalanche’s L1 is currently approximately $0.005, which is impressively cheap. We may identify an even faster and cheaper solution for in-game transactions in the future but for the time being Avalanche will suffice given the very low transaction fees and high network speed.

- Easier onboarding for Dawn of Crypton (and the MMORPG Pre-Alpha when it’s time)
Next Steps for DoC Players
Everyone who has Cosmic Universe MAGIC or NFTs on Boba Avax should bridge them back to Avalanche. Any Elves that are currently in play within Dawn of Crypton need to be unstaked and bridged back to Avalanche. The cost set by Boba to bridge back is 10 BOBA (around $1) per bridge transaction (not per NFT). We have requested Boba reduce or remove this fee so if you have a lot of NFTs you can wait a few days until we have a resolution agreed upon by Boba we are expecting.
Once we have re-created all of the game contracts on Avalanche, you should be able to get your Elves (and soon Wizards) in play again. This may take a few weeks given the large amount of work our developers need to now do before Boba Avax is permanently shut down.

Having all Cosmic Universe assets on one network is best for the time being, and since Boba Avax is being shut down, housing everything for the project on Avalanche will make it easier for our next steps forward when it comes to Dawn of Crypton’s Expeditions, any microgames DoC may have, the Pre-Alpha of the MMORPG, etc.
In fact, out of 5 steps to play Dawn of Crypton, we now have eliminated 3 steps! This makes onboarding for Dawn of Crypton and our upcoming Pre-Alpha much easier, resulting in a larger player base. We will be updating our DoC playing guide accordingly for the new easier process.
As the frosty crypto winter shows a glimmer of thawing soon, we will be better prepared and provide an easier on-boarding experience for our games, which we understand has been a bit challenging with Boba Avax, but this will no longer be an issue.
