I recently visited Barcelona, Spain, to see a friend and struggled with what to do with my off time. I was a bit weary of visiting tourist attractions and contributing to overtourism in the area. But, I decided I would try my luck and visit the famous Casa Batlló, home of the famed Antoni Gaudí, while attempting to pay respect to the region by minding my presence, speaking the language (where I can), and just generally trying to be a good-mannered and conscientious visitor to this beautiful and rich community.

But there I was, hesitant to endure the tourist crowd, long lines, and cranky children. Approaching the “house of bones” in the bustling metropolis of Barcelona, I had forgotten just how incredibly beautiful and interesting the Casa Batlló truly is. So, as if a mystical, otherworldly voice sang out with a welcome tone, I gladly stepped through the threshold to explore this amazing architectural feat.

Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, a unique masterpiece in the heart of Barcelona, is a living testament to the harmonious blend of human creativity and natural forms. This UNESCO World Heritage site, often referred to as the “House of Bones” due to its distinctive skeletal structure, stands as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing the profound connection between human ingenuity and the beauty of nature.
