Navigate | A Poem For Busy Millennials

The Family Table

Navigate — find your way,
Often rushed no time to stay
Shoulders weighed, eyes on the ground,
Concrete blur the only sound
Surface lip-service time only allows,
Light conversation, one of the crowd.

Navigate a jungle tangled up weeds,
Ticking off lists and taming needs.
Pushing through the tasks to do,
No time for dreams, no time for new.
As each day fades, yet more remain.
More of the missed, more of the same.

What if navigation didn’t have to sound like rushing waters all around.
What if it paused and you heard your breath,
Or stood on the brink out of your depth.
Yet peaceful and hopeful and knowing the way,
That you are held up will always remain.

What if it didn’t have to weigh you down,
And the concrete focus becomes a beautiful sound.

What if you could … who would you be.
Who is that person, who would we see?
