Waxwork Record’s Creepshow 2 release review

First of all…Holy shit.

I finally got my copy of the Creepshow 2 soundtrack on vinyl from Waxwork Records.

Ive never seen anyone so impatient Billy….

First impression out of the box is that this thing is beautiful. Simply beautiful. The cover art, the liner notes, every detail and every aspect of this oozes it being the passion project of hardcore Creepshow fans.

The score, co-composed and performed by the devastatingly underrated Les Reed and Rick Wakeman consisted of orchestral compositions and synthy, almost John Carpenter-esque interludes and scare cues. This is the very first time ever that this soundtrack and score has been released in any format.

This is the follow up of course to the original Creepshow, which Waxworks famously released back in 2014 after “finding” the master tapes in an old attic in Pennsylvania.

This record came in 2 different variants. I myself acquired “The Raft” variant. And there is also the “Old Chief Woodenhead” edition.

The sounds are crisp and smooth. The record’s action is solid. And if I were you, Id buy this thing while you can. The resale value on the original pressings of their Creepshow are stupid high, and this is an equally amazing release. I am consistently surprised and blown away by the quality and care of their releases.

In addition to Creepshow 2, I went ahead and snagged issue 1 of House of Waxworks. From Waxworks : “Featuring all new content from contemporary writers, illustrators, and composers, HOUSE OF WAXWORK is a rousing horror-anthology series packed with macabre tales of ghouls, ghosts, witchcraft, the occult, the living dead, revenge, and so much more.” Definitely for fans of the Creepshow series, Tales from the Crypt, CREEPY comics, and anything horror really.

If you're a horror fan, and you're sleeping on Waxworks Records, youre living life wrong.
