Tips: How You Can Slow the Aging Process

Despite what some might claim, we can’t reverse the aging process. One day, aging will be considered a disease and will have a cure, but for now, the best we can do is slow the march. And, we can slow the march. Below, we’re going to teach you how.

Antioxidants
Just living life causes oxidisation in the body. This leads to free radicals. Free radicals move around the body, damaging organs, skin, blood…well, everything. There’s not much we can do to stop the creation of free radicals entirely, but we can reduce their numbers in a variety of ways:

1. We can cut out unhealthy habits that are proved to increase the number of free radicals. This means cutting out the following:
a. Smoking — a number one cause of cancer
b. Junk food — obesity costs the world $2trillion a year! That’s more than we spend on the military!
c. Not getting enough fresh air — you need a break from breathing in pollutants every now and then. If you can, get out into the countryside at the weekends.
d. Exercise — right, you can’t stop exercising because it has so many health benefits, but you do need to be aware that it causes oxidisation and so, following exercise, you should always increase your intake of antioxidants: see below.

2. We can take antioxidants. Antioxidants stop the oxidisation process caused by free radicals, and so help to protect the body. Antioxidants are found in foods, particularly fresh fruit and vegetables. It’s important that you aim for your 5-a-day, but if you can, eat between 7–10 fruit and vegetables a day. Eat more veg than fruit. This will help to reverse the effects of aging caused by oxidisation from free radicals.

Exercise and Diet
We touched on these above, so you should already understand why they’re important. However, they’re important in other ways too. Here’s how:

1. Skin: exercise increase oxygenation it helps to keep the skin young and healthy. Food also helps the skin by proving it with the necessary vitamins and minerals, as well as the antioxidants needed to fight free radicals.
2. Heart and mind: again, you need to feed your body. Hearts and brain love oxygen, and so aerobic exercise is essential to good health. In terms of food, you need to feed them both foods that promote their health. Things like garlic are fantastic for the blood and heart. The brain loves fats, such as omega 3.
3. Joints: if you want to keep the flexibility of youth then you need to do stretches every day. The brain loves stretching too, because it’s relaxing.

Supplements and Creams
There are a number of different supplements that work to keep you looking healthy:

  1. Collagen tablets: these keep the plumpness in the skin and prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles. Collagen tablets provide collagen, which is a type of fat that acts like scaffolding in the skin. It literally keeps it all up. As you know, things tend to head south as you age, collagen can help keep things pointing north!

2. Anti-aging creams: you should start to use an anti-aging cream in your early 30s. We recommend a natural cream without the chemicals of some of the more aggressive creams.
